Mackworth Island-with its incredible views of Casco Bay-is a great place for a hike, a picnic, or searching for shells on the beach. Home to the Governor Baxter School for the Deaf, this island also has a 1.25 miles walking trail around the perimeter of the island. The trail is dog-friendly, and you can also check out Maine’s largest fairy house village while you’re there. Parking can be limited on holidays and weekends during the summer so get there early.
The Falmouth Foreside Tavern is a great place to grab a local craft beer or some of their famous pan-fried oysters, a perfect pairing for a Saturday evening date night or a Sunday afternoon Patriots game. There are many delicious sandwiches and entrees to try, and several options for vegetarians, as well.
